Angles in a triangle

There are 360° in a circle.

There are 180° on a straight line.

How many degrees are there in a triangle?

Here is a triangle. Imagine we’ve drawn it on a piece of paper and coloured in the angles.

We could cut these angles off the triangle with a pair of scissors.

Then we could arrange the three angles together so that they can sit on a straight line. Since the angles are on a straight line, they must add to 180°.

We could do this with any triangle. All triangles have internal angles that add up to 180°.
